It's not every day that
you encounter music that goes beyond the message of love and heartbreak, to dig
deeper into societal issues. Bachata artist and composer, Lynx, however,
has broken the mold with his latest single “Somos Uno”. The song is
focused on the theme of love and equality for people with disabilities,
reminding the listener that people with special needs can reach new heights
just like anyone else.
The topic is one that
comes as second nature for Lynx, whose youngest brother is blind and
autistic. The singer recalls moments from his childhood in which people
would stare at his brother, and says that he has even encountered people who
have family members with special needs and are ashamed of it. Lynx’s
goals in releasing “Somos Uno” were simple: to show people they shouldn’t be
ashamed of a disabled family member, to let those with special needs realize
that they are no less than anyone else, and to give those who have not
encountered someone with special needs a unique perspective on the
matter.
With the single being out
for almost a week now, Lynx says he is impressed with the amount of love and
support he has been receiving from people in regards to the song.
However, the most impactful reactions have been the emotional responses from
parents and family members who have a loved one with special needs—in the short
time that it has been out, the song has touched the hearts of many and there is
still so much more to come.
“Somos Uno” is the last
single to be released from Lynx’s upcoming debut album set to release sometime
in November. The album is sure to make a splash with its unique approach
and style, and more announcements will be made soon with further details.
Until then, fans can enjoy Lynx’s other singles: “Máscara”, “Mi Debilidad”,
“Como Antes”, and, of course “Somos Uno”.
